At our Club’s recent summer meeting there was great interest expressed for a hands (and feet) on pace line training for those who want to be introduced to the skills necessary to safely ride within 3 feet (roughly the diameter of a bicycle wheel) of the bicycle in front of them in order to enjoy the benefits of drafting. Bob Browne will cover topics including verbal and hand signaling, rotation within the pace line, preferred ways to slow down if you are overtaking the rider in front of you, when to drink/refuel and specific safety concerns vs. riding single file (with a bike length or more separating riders). The majority of our time will be spent on our bicycles in pace lines safely practicing skills and experiencing the most efficient way to ride in a group (with as few as 2 cyclists) - making it easier to maintain speed, ride longer and minimize getting beat up by head (and cross) winds. AND YOU’LL COME AWAY FROM THIS SESSION KNOWING HOW TO RIDE SAFER AS A PARTICIPANT IN ANY GROUP RIDE
