24th ANNIVERSARY RIDE OF SILENCE Registration Required
Sussex Cyclists will host a Ride of Silence on Wednesday May 20, 2026 at 7 PM.
The ride will start at Cape Henlopen High School . The ride will be a slow pace 10 mile ride through Lewes with police assistance. This ride is to honor those who have been killed or seriously injured in bicycle accidents. It is open to all and helmets are a must with lights strongly recommended. Please register for the ride so we have an idea of how many we will have. To go with the name of the ride, this ride is in total silence.
WHAT IS THE RIDE OF SILENCE?
On Wed. May 20, at 7:00 PM, the Ride of Silence will traverse and unite the globe as nothing before it. Cyclists will take to the roads in a silent procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways. Although cyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists, the motoring public often isn't aware of these rights, and sometimes not aware of the cyclists themselves.
In 2003, Chris Phelan organized the first Ride of Silence in Dallas after endurance cyclist Larry Schwartz was hit by the mirror of a passing bus and was killed.
The Ride of Silence is a free ride that asks its cyclists to ride no faster than 12 mph, wear helmets, follow the rules of the road and remain silent during the ride. There are no registration fees. The ride, which is held during National Bike Month, aims to raise the awareness of motorists, police and city officials that cyclists have a legal right to the public roadways. The ride is also a chance to show respect for and honor the lives of those who have been killed or injured.

Savage Century
Saturday, October 3
W.L. Gore Facility — Newark DE
The White Clay Bicycle Club invites you to come and take the challenge for the 45th edition of the Savage Century, one of the most scenic and challenging rides in our area (especially if you choose one of the longer routes). Select a route—approximately 40, 60, 80 or 100 miles—and enjoy one of the premier rides in the mid-Atlantic region hosted by the WCBC.
The 40-mile (approx 2,300 ft of climb), 60-mile (approx 3,700 ft of climb ) and 80-mile loops (approx 5,300 ft of climb) have shorter climbs, while the major hills are on the 100-mile loop! The 100-mile loop had ~7,700 feet of climb for 2024.
Sea Gull Century
Sea Gull Century, a nationally acclaimed bicycling event, beginning and ending on the campus of Salisbury University, tours the picturesque Eastern Shore of Maryland and offers three routes: the 100 Mile Century, the 63 Mile Metric, and new this year is a 40 Mile Ride for cyclists of all experience levels.
